Our message to Pete Winkelman:
“Let’s get over it, let’s put in the past.”
Like many Dons fans, we listened to your end of season message, and we appreciate the decision to come out and speak with honesty to all of us after the frustrating end to the season. We don’t want this message in response to what you have said to be negative. Instead, we are hoping for this to be an offer to rebuild the relationship between The Club and DonsAction.
When we made the decision to stop attending Supporters Board meetings last summer, we wanted to send a message to yourself and the club. The ambition set out by the club from day 1 is something we really believe in, and whilst we may be the furthest we have ever been from that level, we are still clinging onto that belief. As a result of this, we had to do something in response to the club being relegated again, and we stand by that decision.
You have asked for all of us to put this season in the past. However, there is work that needs to be done for a lot of people, including ourselves, to agree with you on that. The Club is in a strong position with Mike and his team in charge, that is something we feel we can agree on. The issue for us and many others, is off the field.
Since leaving Supporters Board meetings, no senior figure currently working for MK Dons has reached out to us to try and rebuild the relationship. We wrote to the Supporters Board in December to try and get everyone on the same page, and we still heard nothing from the people at the top. We also had our Vice-Chair, Joe Friess, attend a recent Supporters Board meeting as a result of the club’s communication team reaching out to engage with us. Ultimately, Pete, you are the person that we want to speak to, you said it yourself…
“Look at what DonsAction did…”
We have shown what we can do to unite this fanbase, and you need us united more than ever.
Our message to DonsAction Members:
Thank You. We’ve said it a few times this season, but we can’t say it enough. The support we received this season was on another level. We produced 2 of our best displays so far, we created a website, we got almost 8000 people to wear white, we ran multiple away day campaigns and now have over 500 members signed up on our website! None of this is possible without all of you and we are so grateful for everything you’ve allowed us to do.
The job has only just started though, and we have no intentions of slowing down. With the 2024/25 season fast approaching already, we want to push on and build on the momentum DonsAction gained through the #DonYourWhite campaign. As always, we need your support and your ideas to help make this all possible. If you have an idea for next season that you want to work with us on, get in touch through our website and we will get back to you once we have discussed it internally.
Unfortunately, everything costs money these days. We are nearly at the point where we are making money each month through the Monthly Donation scheme, however, for the moment, we are very limited on funds. You can donate through the link at the top of this article with either a one-off donation or signing up to monthly donations. Every penny goes towards making DonsAction possible.
Content may be slightly lower on our socials for a short period, but we will be back up to full speed well before the start of the new season!
